A small province in the western part of Sweden. Dalsland is also called a Sweden in miniature.
Sweden's lake province
The northern part of Dalsland have lots of beautiful lakes. Something that have dubbed this area the lake province of Sweden. It's impossible to drive through this area and not get impressed by the beauty of these lakes. From the smaller lakes to the bigger ones there is always a place for you to just sit down and relax, do some fishing or well capturing a scene of beauty.
In Dalsland you can find one out of the 29 National parks in Sweden. Tresticklan is a beautiful location where you can experience a older forest mixed with beautiful small lakes. Most of the forest is untouched for over 100 years. Which is very uncommon in the Nordic countries. The best parts of this park is the lowlands close to the lakes.
Dalsland has quite low population density with just 14 inhabitants/km². Still there are a few gems in terms of cultivated nature. Baldersnäs standing as my favorite of them.
Vänern, the biggest lake
Even though there are a lot of lakes in the north, non of them can compare to Vänern. Vänern is the biggest lake in Sweden and its western shore lies at Dalslands eastern border. The shore reminds me of the Swedish west coast.
The only thing lacking in Dalsland is highlands. The highest point in Dalsland is only 302 meters over the sea. But the best view you get from Sörknatten which is commonly called the roof of Dalsland.
